What happens if a Chromebook stops working?
- Chromebooks will be transported with care and in a protective case.
- Chromebooks will ALWAYS be transported in backpacks from class to class.
- Chromebooks will not be lifted by the screen.
- Chromebooks will not be carried with the screen open.
- Students who have an early dismissal will take their Chromebook back to their home room and store it as usual if the dismissal takes place during class change. If a student leaves early due to illness, he or she will leave the Chromebook with Mrs. Yeargan in the Attendance office. Chromebooks will be returned to home room teachers at the end of the day.
- All teachers will account for the class set of Chromebooks before the end of the school day.
- Any student arriving to school after first block (with the exception of late buses) will not get their Chromebook until lunch/healthy living. Students who need technology will be given access to the extra desktop computers in the classroom.
- The majority of student work will be stored in Internet/cloud based applications that can be accessed from any computer with an Internet connection and most mobile Internet devices.
- Google Drive saves automatically.
- The school will not be responsible for the loss of any student work.
- Students are encouraged to maintain backups of their important work on a portable storage device or by having multiple copies stored in different Internet storage solutions.
- Students will be encouraged to digitally publish and share their work with their teachers and peers when appropriate.
- All student work should be stored in an Internet/cloud application; students will not be able print directly from their Chromebooks.
- Students can print from extra classroom desktop computers or library desktop computers if needed.
What happens if a Chromebook stops working?
- If a problem occurs that can’t be solved by the teacher or another student, students should use classroom desktop computers until lunch/healthy living time. At lunch/healthy living, the student should bring the Chromebook to the library.
- For long term repair, students will be issued a loaner Chromebook.
- A student borrowing a Chromebook must sign a loaner agreement; the student will be responsible for the damage or loss of a loaned device.
